Flash-Reset

General

The flash reset disables the flash memory temporarily.
This is achieved by connecting the corresponding spot to GND.
But the spot is different for each flash type and Dbox type.

You can grip GND at any mainboard mounting screw or at the tuner case.

Flash reset requires the spot to be connected firmly to GND, not the short tip like when you disable the write protection in 2xIntel boxes.
We want to disable the flash memory for a certain period of time, and during this period the spot has to stay connected to GND.

You decide the way you make the connection. If you have a second person available, let him/her do it.
You may also use a switch or a needle.
Note that you have to make the connection quickly, at the right time and for the right amount of time.

Nokia with 2 x Intel Flash

At the rear flash of the Nokia 2xI there is a soldering spot which you can use.

If you do not want to open the box, you can also reach through the hole no. 8 at the case bottom. Make sure you use the right hole, using the wrong one could kill your box. Do not stab wildly into the box. You have to exactly touch the correct spot.

Nokia with 2xAMD Flash

There is a soldering spot at pin 12 of the rear flash which you can use for flash reset.

Sagem with 1 x Intel Flash

The safest method is connecting pin 16 of the flash to GND.

Cover the other pins with self-adhesive tape so you can see the right one better and cannot touch the wrong ones.

Alternatively:

Connect the spot labeled Flashreset to GND.
This area might look differently, depending on the layout of your box.

Make sure the connection is stable. Instable connection or trembling could cause bad contact, and may damage your board.

If unsure, use the pin16-method.

Sagem with 2 x Intel Flash

Connect pin 12 of any flash chip to GND.
Best is to use this soldering spot for pin 12. GND is available at any mounting screw of the mainboard or at the tuner case.

Sagem with 2 x AMD Flash and 2 x Intel Layout

Connect pin 12 of any flash chip to GND.
Pin 1 is marked at the flash chip, so you can count to pin 12.
Unfortunately the Sagem2xI has no usable soldering spot, so you have to touch the pin directly at the flash chip.
Cover the other pins with self-adhesive tape, so you cannot touch them.

Sagem with 2 x AMD Flash and 1 x Intel Layout

Connect this spot to GND.

Note: this spot only works in Sagem 2xAMD and 1 x Intel-Layout.
be sure to have exactly this layout if you have such a box.

Phillips

Connect this spot labeled Flashreset to GND.
GND is available at any mounting screw of the mainboard or at the tuner case.
